If not this game then any suggestions? Also, is it hard to get my 360 controller working with this title? No, this not the only golf game. I'm sure that if you search the 'Steam store' you will find others. I'm not going to comment on which is better because it's a personal preference. Regarding Controller support, currently this game does not support controllers but it's planned. Having said that, there are players that have been able to use a controller.
You may want to visit the PG forum website, peruse the topics and you will find a fair amount of discussion on this subject. The PG forum website link is. Of course USAFDad is right on the controller issue, i spoke out of turn on that as for preference it's just a opinion thing there are things about the golf club i like there are things about perfect golf i like i'm not shilling for either product it's just that i have a few friends on perfect golf that i throughly enjoy playing with and the game is fun.
I'm not telling you to buy either one, do your homework go to the homepages and read the reviews on both. I own both and i play both. It's totally your decision. Appriciate the help! I understand people who like having a golf sim(and it looks like a good one), I play a lot of flight sims myself.
However, as far as the genre goes I was just looking for something leaning more to the arcade syle of TW. Something I can sit on my couch and play with a controller. If PG gets native controller support would purchase in a heartbeat since it is cheaper anyway. As we use extra system to make the game realistic just as adding timing to the motion swing and real world spin and ball physics I would say it makes it less of an arcade game. Of course you are entitled to our opinion but It didn't make sense to me.

When I think arcade golf, I think of Golden Tee.
That was the ultimate arcade golf game and this is nothing like that. If anything, the 2D graphics and controller stick based swing of TGC fits that description far more closely. It's much more console or arcade golf than PG.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, but that's where TGC has gone with their product. PG is 'traditional computer gaming golf'.
The mouse swing may be different (and IMO a much better approximation of real golf given that it's tempo based), but many of us are playing with the beloved 3 click swing. PG has 3D graphics, a more detailed physics system and the far more powerful CourseForge will let users create courses in very specific detail (like Links or JNSE). It's essentially based on the Links model and that could never be considered 'arcade golf'. Frankly, I don't think either one is like TW. TW was both PC and consoles in its heyday (mid 2000s) and the defining characteristic of that game (beyond marketing the hell out of it with the Tiger name) was the career play and skill progression.
That was the real core of that game. Yes, you could play it with a controller, but on the PC you had the mouse swing and the 3 click version.
Neither TGC nor PG has gone down that road, so I don't see either product being similar to what made TW stand out.
